Reading task

cab.jpg
Down behind our place flows the muddy old river.  I often go there after school and watch the sticks and leaves drift sluggishly past.
One time I found a plastic drink bottle stranded on the green slime.
Noticing something different about the bottle, I fished it out.  Cutting the bottle open, I pulled out a piece of paper.  On the paper was written this letter.
        125 Riverside Road
        Wakanui
        New Zealand
        Dear friend,
If you find this letter please write to me.  I have brown hair and am 9 years old.    Please write to me, specially if you live in Australia or America.  I don't have many     friends here.
        Love from
        Amy Brown
"What a laugh," I thought.  Amy Brown lives just up the river from us.  She's in my class, too.  Amy is strange and she really doesn't have many friends.  She's often away from school, and the kids only take notice of her if they want to tease her, or want something from her, like money for ice blocks.
I put her letter in my pocket to show it around at school.
But by the end of the week that letter was still in my pocket.  I supposed that really, like Amy, I was a bit lonely, too.  Or perhaps I just didn't have enough courage to be that mean.
        What about her letter?
On Saturday morning I got another empty drink bottle and poked her letter into it.  I screwed the top tightly on and biked down the road carrying it.
From the old wharf by the factories, I threw the bottle far out into the tide.  The water there was swift enough to carry it out to sea at least.
        That was last year.
Amy is still in my class and she still seems lonely.  I haven't heard about the letter.  But then, that sort of mail can take ages to get to Australia or America.

The best part of me

The best part of me!

You will describe the best part of you.  It is your choice on the style of writing you choose.  You may write a poem or a letter or a story.
Here are some examples to get you thinking.
desc 1.jpeg
desc 2.jpeg
When we plan our writing we need to think about:
1 Picking a part to write about
2 planning our style
3 describing the part, what it does, the effect it has on other people and why we like it.

For example:

In a relaxed position, the lips turn slightly down and are revlon, ruby red in colour.  When they break into a smile they reveal crooked teeth and lines around the side but I don’t mind.  It’s my smile and no one else has one quite like it.

It arrives at many different times of the day and is quite infectious.
I use it to express myself.  Some people say that your eyes always reflect how you are feeling but I think your smile could mirror my feelings.

           The best part of me
The best part of me is my smile because it makes people happy. When I smile my mouth curves up and my cheeks go bright red. My eyes go sparkle, sparkle, sparkle, sparkle. When I smile I feel happy, awesome, great and it makes me say, “Gidday mate!” I love my smile because it makes other people smile with me and that makes me ever more happy. The end.

The Inter School Cross Country

"NO NO NO NO I do not want to go running now since I have seen the running course I said to myself."

After we had look at the running course we had to sit in our
places. Then the races started it was year 7's first. Then all the other races started.

"ON ON ON ON it is my turn to run but I said to myself it will all be over soon."

When we got to the starting line, the loud and ferocious whistle blew like thunder. That was my Que. The race was long but before I new it I was at the finished line and I came 31.

Production Diary 2014: Part 2

Part two

After Lunch I went straight to production practice. I was feeling a bit nervous because I have 6 lines but I have practice them really hard but I am worried that Miss Hill will say “Rosemary speak louder.”
But I was feeling really happy because Miss Hill didn't say that so I was feeling really proud of myself.

Dear Diary, let me introduce myself. My name is Rosemary and my role in the production is kid 4 and so far I have loved my role because I am very funny and cheeky. One of my lines will get the audience off  their chairs because the production is called Journey through the Legends and it is all about olden day stories. And my line says
“Music  clips on youtube.”
It is funny because you couldn’t watch youtube in the olden days. Ok let me get right to the point... I am so so so so nervous because I have never been in a production before and it feels like I am have got fire on my brain. But I am still very happy that I am in the production.
