This week for math I did some rounding and compensating on the ipad. We used show me. The reason I am putting this video on my blog is because I am really proud of the effort I put into it.

The Smell Collector

WALT write entertaining poems

We will know we can do this when:

• meaning - focus on one sense
• four lines per verse
• rhyme (2nd & 4th line)
• beginning and ending

A stranger called bob

Dressed in blue and black

Put every smell into a bag

And carried them in a sack

The smell of the dirty hay

The smell of fire burning

smells are all around us

as long as the word is turning

I can smell the beautiful flowers

and the freshly mown grass

The rain on the hot concrete

And also on the glass

The smell of the dinner cooking

the bath bubbles getting ready

the wet dog running in

I try to hold her steady

The smell of the dishes  washing

the coffee on the table

the hot potatoes cooking

smells don’t have a label

A stranger called Bob

he didn’t leave the smell

he took them all away

life will never be well.

The spammer

In my reading group we had to make a tool. The idea was from a book called the spammer.Here is a picture of me summarising

We had to explain how your tool works. I made something called a hammer nail. How you work it is on one side there is half a hammer and on the other side there is half a nail. Well I was going to tell you how it works here is some information about how my tool works. So if a builder wanted a hammer and a nail he could just make my tool the hammer nail and he could cut a little bit of hammer and get a nail and stick them together.

Reflection

Something I enjoyed learning was... If you go crooked you double paddle one way and then you would go stand.

Something I found challenging was...Paddling was a bit hard.

My favourite thing about kayaking in the pool was…Being safe and having a lot of fun.

In The Paddock

I could see the long grass and I could hear the birds chirping. The brown horses were galloping along. I felt the silver fence between my fingers. I could smell the runny poos spreading across the long grass. I taste the bugs in my mouth. I could hear the crickets and their tiny little voices. I felt like I was in a beautiful forest because looking at the lovely green trees in the background and looking at the horses.The horses were light brown.

Perimeter and Area

 The perimeter of the 1st shape was 24cm. The perimeter

of the 2nd shape was 18cm. The total of the 1st shape and the 2nd shape all together is 42cm.

The length of the shape is 6cm. The width of the shape is 4cm.
Area =length x width 
6 x 4
=24cm2

T-ball

The hot hot sun was beating down on my bright blue t-shirt. I could smell sunscreen on bodies. Mrs Roil called,” batter up”. It was my turn. I grabbed the bat, I could hear the people on the other team shouting at their team mates. WHACK went the bat, over went the ball.As I ran I could feel the grass on my feet. Yes I got on first base I thought to myself. My face was as red as a berry after my run.At morning tea, the water in my drink bottle took my breath away.

My waka

This is my waka piece, the whole class did one. The reason I did the
Italian flags is because I have a little bit of a Italian in me. I did five koru  down the bottom  because I have got five people in my family. I did kiwis on my waka because I'm from New Zealand. The reason I used blue,red and white is because those are  the colours of the New Zealand flag.
The reason I did rainbow colours is because the rainbow colours to me, show happiness.I put Rosie on my paddle because my name is Rosie.
He Waka Eke Noa. A canoe which we are all in together.

On Wednesday I went with my class room 6 to a visit from the Hearing AssocIation.The lady who  talked to us about keeping our ears safe was  really nice, she was called Carolyn. I  really liked learning about keeping my ears safe because if you clean your ears too deep in your ear it can hit something called an ear drum and it really hurts when you hit your ear drum it can make you a little bit deaf. We did experiments my favourite experiment was having the tuning fork and the ping bong ball together and it made vibrations.

Totara Art

This is my Totara art. One side Mr Cottrell designed and 

the other is my design. The big koru represents Nga Rakau Nui

because we are Seniors now. The reason I put number 6 on my side is

because I am in room 6. The colours I have used are like  the colours of the

rainbow and show happiness.from Rosemary.
